sorry to hear that some of you don't like ron on the new album
and live tapes- all i can say is try some tea and headphones plus
volume- i just got alien 4 last week and was very impressed
i think it is their most cohesive album in ages. It has a feel to it like
their classic albums such as warrior and hall and the first one-you know
what i mean- the songs just flow one to another better than in "it is the
business" and" electric teepee". to me it is kind of like two mini albums
one with abducted-sputnik stan and then deathtrap-are you loosing
the only place it really cuts for me is kapal-festivals-these two while
both great don't flow in the mix.
ron tree- it it because he has a squeak voice? personally i like it
he gets almost female sounding at times and can also sound like calvert,
but to me he is most reminicint of nik turner -so i can see that if your
a nikophobe you probable don't like him -he is an alien i think.

it is the end of a quarter here at AU so for my last radio broadcast of the
quarter i played the whole album plus filled the remaining time with
selected hw favorites. the respose was pretty positive- one friend who
heard it said it was his favorite of the hw he's heard so far.

live stuff- i got the tape of the spring 95 show at the jaxx
while not being as good as the show i saw in atlanta it still is great
rons use of that vocal pitch device makes this for me- I like when vocals
get distorted and deranged- phase it, echo it the more the better
the version of alien i am is smokin -

list thoughts/ multi topic/off topic
i think that hawkwind are the godfathers of the space rock scene and
under their outstreched wings come many fledglings and eggs that fly in
many directions- i don't think we should limit our discussions to hw boc
and their direct offshoots- these other bands are keeping the scene alive
and if we want our main interest to continue then we need to keep up
with which directions the music is headed - since i do a show dedicated
to spacerock and psychedelic i love to hear about new stuff from
hawkwind's peers( those that tread the space waves and the mind).
now if someone knows of a dedicated spacerock/psychedelic list then beam
me up - i go to alt.music.psychedelic and .progressive but alt.psyche is
too slim and alt.prog to fat for me to really enjoy. sorry to the strict BOC
only fans out there but you got to realize that i've been into boc since i
was 13 i'm 25 now. i have had some of their albums more than a decade
if they would concentrate on producing some serious albums i would have
more to say about them -they need to ditch sony -maybee griffen would
pick them up? they have helped hawkwind in the US a ton(except for their
damn overoptimistic release dates) -i was looking at hawkwinds output for
the nineties alone and it is incredible- spacebandits/palace
springs/electric teepee/it is the/biz trip/psyche warriors/alien-plus a
ton of reissues and comps- i cant think of another band
in any genre that has put out this many albums this decade can you?
well a lot just came off my mind- you probably won't be hearing much from
me this month
takeit easy- mike psyche
