For me, this is the crux of the matter. If the bootlegger is just in
it to make money, they won't bother to select decent material, or
clean up the sound. "Caveat emptor!" is their motto. A case in point
is the _Live at St. Albans_ bootleg, which missed off some obvious
rarities from the gig it (partly) reproduced, aside from the fact
there was much overlap with the *official* _Live '79_ release.
However, it seems with boots such as the _Nova_ one, an attempt has
been made to collect rare/unreleased tracks and present them with
*good* sound quality. To me, this is the difference between a
bootlegger and a fan's release.

Haven't the _Anthology_ tracks appeared enough already??? ;-)

No, it doesn't cost a lot to do CD-R CDs, and, yes, I think they are
usually overpriced. Bernhard reported that the new boot he bought
cost approximately $40. Remember, that boot was a CD-R disc, not a
custom-pressed disc. Blanks for 74 min. CD-R discs can be had for
about $8 each in quantities of 10--50. Add on a tiny bit for
photocopied artwork ripped off from somewhere else, and, yes, I do
think it's starting to look as if a big profit is being made
somewhere...

Beat the boots!

Cheers,

Paul.
