Drum solos

I think that there is a big difference between a drum solo and a
percussion solo, although, generally a percussion solo ain't exactly
solo, as it usually entails more than one percussionist. I guess my
best example of this would have to be the percussion solo at the end
of Uriah Heeps' track "Look At Yourself" from the album of the same
name. It featured three percussionists from the band Osibisa (whose
first two albums were/are two of my favorites, not just for the Roger
Dean covers) along with the regular drummer. It wasn't too long, had
enough different textures to keep it interesting and was in total
contrast to the rest of the track.

And I agree with the statement that a drum solo should be experienced
live, not via a recording. There is so much visually that is going on in
a well done solo that just dosen't make its' way onto an audio recording.
