Stop the insanity (Please)

The following, as always, is IMHO, but . . .

This "trend" for folks to post on multiple topics in the same message,
IMHO, is not a good idea. I for one (and maybe the only, but I'm gonna
say it anyway) find it most annoying. No offenses meant to the folks
who have adopted this style, but I find it frustrating to have numerous
threads in the same message, some of which I might like to respond
to, while others I hope would die a fast but painful death. It's bad
enough that we fail change subject headers long after the thread has
left the original topic (and I'm as guilty as anybody on this), but to
now have 5 or more topics of discussion under the same subject is
frustrating - I for one have some things to say about a few of these
individual topics, but I'm going to just say the hell with it I'm not
going to bother trying to respond to any of it (except for one - see
below). I have other things to do associated with my job and while
the overall list volume is problematic enough, if I have to wade
through numerous topics in each mail message I get to see if there is
something interesting to me, then I just might have to unsubscribe.
I'm certainly not the first to complain about the signal-to-noise
ratio here. I suspect we haven't heard much about this lately because
those who complained in the past may have already left the list.

O.K., 'nuff said on that (for me anyways). The one other "mini-topic"
I wanted to bring up was the fighting/martial-arts thread. I'm a
student of the martial arts myself, but IMHO, this has nothing to do
with BOC-L (at least the "Strat" thread, which I inadvertenly started
has something to do with music).
