HW EP question

Something I don't quite understand on the Hwakwind (forthcoming) EP,

>From Jills posting (ta Jill), it seemed that all the tracks on the EP will
also be on the LP (except Alien will be shortened on the EP), which kind
of begs the questions whats the point of the EP ? Unless some of the
versions are going to be live maybe. Anybody know ? or do we just wait
until the happy day when they actually appear.
