About fucking time!

I see the holder of the Weird Tapes (who *does* own those, anyway?),
finally broke down on their absurd contention that the tapes weren't
good enough to be worth putting on CD.

I had already contacted an acquaintance of mine who specializes in
audio restoration and tranfer, and had priced the transfer of my copy
of Weird Tape #5 (? I always get the number wrong) to CD. It's
*expensive*. Something on the order of $2/minute for restoration of
the slightly worn tape (well, slightly worn over most of the tape -
the rendition of Hassan I Sabha is about shot), :-) and about another
$70 for tranfer to CD. I have seen people advertizing on newsgroups
who will transfer tapes for less, but I bet they just hook their
Walkman up to the audio input of their computer at work, with the
SoundBlaster16 and writeable CD drive. ;-)

Let's see... if I take a second job <scribble scribble> ummm.... ok,
and I don't go to any movies <scribble scribble>. Hmmmm. And don't
eat <scribble scribble>... and... and... and... don't buy any
more...err... only buy ... ummm... buy fewer CDs... <scribble
scribble>... <whimper>... buy a LOT FEWER CDs <scribble scribble>
<whimper whimper>... then, _MAYBE_ I can make it to this...

Sigh.
