Some points.

Brock's - or anyone's - personal generosity to individuals is not inconsistent
with a bit of underhand dealing elsewhere.

Obviously, we're all ignorant of the financial situation, but removing
someone's writing credit from a song they wrote (or co-wrote) is bad manners.
Remember how upset Al was about his name being taken off some songs on _Cult
Classic_? And Dead Fred was well pissed off with Turner over the missing
credits on _Prophets of Time_, as well as the missing money (and also over
them being crap versions, but that's another issue).

But it's not black and white. Stiffing someone over a track credit does not
(IMO) warrant language like "unprincipled money grabber".

Creatively changing song titles, or using pseudonyms ("S. MacManus", "Dr
Hasbeen") is a different kettle of fish - it's a bit underhand, but if it's a
way of getting out of unfair contracts, then good luck to him.
