Ah.  I used this as a question in a quiz once.  The record came out around
1988/9, and was indeed by a female artist.  The title was given as "Don't Fear
the Reaper", not"(Don't Fear) the Reaper", and was reviewed by NME.
Unfortunately I can't remember her name, which makes this post rather
pointless.  Sorry.
