I wasn't defending them over it, I was merely correcting the statement.
Their increasing reliance on outside songwriting (with the departure of Al)
was a definite trend of the time period.  Prior to this, they'd collaborated
with outside writers, and covered some tunes on live albums, but I think
this was the first time they took a complete song from outside and merely
recorded it.
