I'm not sure.  I think the poem, Blue Oyster Cult, part of the Soft Doctrines
of Imaginos, was written back circa 1967, so the name was already in
existence.  And the lyrics to "Blue Oyster Cult" don't strike me as having
anything to do with homosexuality (then again, BOCs lyrics have always
been left up to wide interpretation - until recent years, how many of
us knew what "dizbuster" was all about?).
