HW: obObservation

Nah!

First Hawkwind album listened to was Hall of the Mountain Grill, which yes,
I thought was fantastic. I then got hold hold of Doremi, Warrior on the
edge and that kind of stuff, all superb. Then I heard not much HW for a
long time until I heard shot down in the night in the local longhair club.
Bloody hell, I hated it. Hawkwind was dead, sold out. I stopped listening
to the Hawks after that until whilst in a somewhat err 'euphoric' state at
a friend's house I heard this amazing album & I was totally blown away. I
couldn't believe it was Hawkwind and yes, you have guessed it, this became
and still is my favorite HW album, the much Hated & maligned Levitation.
from this point on I got back into Hawkwind in a big way but this is still
my favorite. Second place changes between Codex, HoTMG and others.

The real problem is that there are a number of Hawkwinds, some of which we
love & some which we hate some but not many of us like them all. The
Hawkwinds of preference for me are the ones where Lemmy, Huw or Calvert are
present.

Interesting - there does seem to be some kind of consensus emerging from
all these posts {worrying!}. It would appear that people's favourite
Hawkwind album tends to be the one that first got them interested in the
band - not necessarily the first one they listened to but the one that
first got them involved in the Hawkwind sound. Everything after that
tends to get rated in relation to that one.

Then again, this may just be part of the normal human condition.
Perhaps it applies to all bands - not just Hawkwind!

Yrs philosofically
