Ok ok, I was there. Drove a 1000 miles, caught the end of the Pressurehed
set, pretty good, but I was fairly zonked with road hum. Saturday was a
delight, morning sat and talked with Jerry for a bit, joined by Richard,
and then Rizz, passed the pipe. Wasn't going to be dissappointed by Dave
and Ron's absence. Impressed by the amount of Hawkwind stuff for sale. Best
band of the day (besides the Hawks, and yes my own opinion) was Quarkspace.
Met a lot of fans, talked with members of just about all the bands... the
guy who hitched in from colorado, the locals who didn't know Hawkwind, the
guys who showed just cause they had one hawkwind album. Still don't know
the name of the video guy from birmingham who I've talked with at every
show since 89. Looked for the listsrv members without success (was sitting
just a couple of yards behind the hawkwind fan shot...in the shade) me was
tiedye '90 tour shirt.

Pretty much pleased with the Hawkwind set. Richard once again proving that
he's the POWERHOUSE, pounding it out like we were in the Roundhouse. When
will Rizz learn the lyrics? The two fill-in Steves did good. And Jerry is
the new blood the band needs. Sorta dug the regga-fied breaks in
performance. All in all a fun set considering the bad breaks with trying to
get everybody on that stage.

Let me tell ya about a really weird set in may 75. At the airie crown in
chicago, an auditorium stage flanked by massive brick walls, not designed
for Hawkwind metal, bad echoes, and some kind of tension with the band. Nik
having an off night, leading into sonic attack he smacks his head into the
mic stand, it falls forward, Nik falls back, two roadies rush out and
re-erect both, and Nik launches into a sonic attack on your district that
came off like some kind of vaudeville act.

Only caught part of Sunday, had to book out towards Chicago, should've
stayed, got stuck on the Ohio turnpike for like 5 hours.

Daze2 my eighteenth live show since 73. Wouldn't have missed it...
