Hmm.  I took much of it as stabs at the plastic, prepackaged American
culture.

At least the French were shown as taking responsibility for their
actions.

I have to say that Jean Reno, playing the only consistently competent
character in the movie, was a treat.  About the only thing that kept
me from walking out of the theater thinking "What a complete waste."

Someone want to explain why the horde didn't turn cannibal if they
were still that hungry?  For that matter, isn't it rare for a lizard
to be protective of its nest?

And how many vertebrates are capable of reproducing asexually?

Nah, it followed the Godzilla formula too well.  A tedious first half
to three-quarters of the movie (with an occasional interesting minute
here or there), followed by the monster stomping everything in sight.
