Hi Folks...

Well, this is on a bit different subject than where to hold this thing or
who to join in with...

But I have been noticing that the people running the ProgDay festival here
in the states (No. Carolina I think) have been doing an internet
fund-raising auction as a means of financial support. What I mean is that
they've asked a whole slew of different prog artists (presumably many who
have nothing to do with this particular event) to send in a few autographed
items (CDs, etc.) that anyone can bid on, the proceeds going to pay to bring
the bands overseas, etc.

I dunno, could we do something like this, above and beyond (or perhaps as
part of) the personal donations? Would there be any point, as so many of us
are already willing to put up $50 without receiving any merchandise at all?
And that includes a number of us who aren't likely to get to even see the
show in person.

And who, other than HW themselves, would provide the signed items, and how
many could we expect to get gratis? Not enough to make much of a
difference, I'd imagine, unless maybe there's a pile of 'Yuri Gagarins'
laying around. :)

I dunno, I suppose I was just thinking about the PBS fund-drives over here,
where they tell you...

'For a donation of $50, we'll send you this free totebag. For a donation of
$100, you'll get this collection of WWII videos. For $1000, you'll get to
appear as a commentator on the McLaughlin Group. For $1,000,000, you'll
receive you're own personal PBS station.'

Well, just a thought...Keith H. (FAA)
