Or me :)  Not JLG - far too coherent!  Chris Marker is your man - it's
unlikely you'd have heard of his other work, which is mostly as a
screenwriter in France.

Lessee - France isn't known for sf cinema at all, so the fact the _Le
Cinquieme Element_ was _vachement merdique_ isn't necessarily to be held
against them in general; how about Godard's _Alphaville_ (with a character
called Lemmy Caution, which is as about as on-topic as I can make this :),
Vadim's _Barbarella_...?
