In the original 60's sense, before it came to mean specifically post '76
reactionary music. Yes. As punk as early Pretty Things.

The 70's punks drew extensivelly from the previous generation epitomised
by bands like The Stooges and the MC5. Hawkwind have more in common
musically with Iggy than Dave Gilmour.

Is Brainstorm a three chord primal thrash or an elaborate artistic
edifice?

Perhaps more importantly, their attitude has always been ostensively, of
the people, and anti-establishment. Their position has hardly mellowed
with age. Of course, as you get older, life isn't so black and white, us
and them. It becomes easier to capitulate certain principles and put
early feelings down to adolescence (or similar) and dismiss ideas
previously held as unrealistic but Hawkwind. Never. Copped. Out.

and it still takes 5 seconds to decide......
