jon...
feel slightly awkward in that i dont wanna alienate everyone at once so soon
after getting here...
>>>>flipped over "master of the universe" WHEN IT WAS NEW and i was
14....summer '72>>>>hw was the band i forced on all my
friends....>>>>>personally taped the 4/5/74 philadelphia show residing in the
tape collection of many here....>>>>completely turned off/bummed out by
'astounding sounds" in '76 and things were never the same after that....i've
gone on to own everything up to "alien" but the last time i paid for a
hawkwind lp was when "pxr5" was new....
maybe in terms of how you interpret hawkwind and brock, "choose yr masks" is a
good cutoff point, but the re-emergence of calvert , post-lemmy, and the 80's
being dominated by the sounds of langton/bainbridge interested me little,
then and now....lemmy and simon king were the rockinest rhythm section of
their moment; i'm a drummer because of simon king>>>i know hawkwind's u.s.
liasons and traveled w/the band for a couple days on the '91 u.s.
tour....thought the trio was really good....but this has been kinda superceded
by the "calvert jr. and generic sci-fi" era which, once more, reduces my
interest a great deal....would like to hear from anyone whose hw fandom
stretches as far back as mine>>>>>>>>>peace etc.
