Some specialist sites I've had particularly good experiences with are:

* Southern Studios (http://www.southern.com/), who dispatch next day without
fail, and have a great catalogue of post-rock weirdness.

* Red Eye (http://www.redeye.com.au/), who have before now taken an order on
a Sunday night, and I've got the CD on the Thursday morning, from 12,000
miles away!

* Forced Exposure (http://www.forcedexposure.com/) who have a great
catalogue of krautrock, postrock, avant-garde, japanoise, electronica, and
exotica, and offer some of the friendliest service you'll find on the web.
Plus they carry all the Captain Trip catalogue, which includes lots of Amon
Duul II and Mick Farren and the Deviants.

* Citadel Records (link from http://www.sdv.fr/pages/dgieff/rob.htm), who
really only sell their own stuff, but since that includes the New Christs
and the Deniz Tek Group, that's fine by me! And excellent personal service
from John Needham, who recognised my name just from ordering when I met him
at the Tek gig in Normandy.

For more mainstream stuff, I shop around promiscuously between CDnow.com,
CDUniverse.com, CDconnection.com, amazon.com, etc etc etc.

Finally, for francophony, I use both www.fnac.fr and www.alapage.com for
books and CDs, and they've been fine and ever so polite. (And with the Euro
heading south fast, their prices are just getting better and better! :)
