I just hooked a tape deck up to my sound card (output of tape into Aux input
of your audio card - you will most likely need a trip to Radio Shack for
adapters) then I use a program called CoolEdit to record the tape into a
wave file which can then be burnt to CD. It works great.. You can use the
program to eliminate things like tape hiss and 60 cycle hum, even boost the
bass or whatever before recording. I've gotten very good at cleaning up
tapes.
