Actually, I believe there is a religious caste in India (the Jains?)
that hold all animal life sacred, and *will* deliberately avoid stepping
on insects; wear masks so they don't inadvertently inhale an insect;
inspect and prepare all food carefully to make sure they don't eat any
bugs by accident; etc.
