HW: '80s

I know this is another re-hashed subject but I can never resist...
Generally I think I like early '80s HW more than the average (older) Hawkfan
who grew up buying the albums as they were released and expected something
different. If Hawkwind did jump on the (commercial) heavy-metal band-wagon,
okay, but there was still plenty of spaciness and experimentation (especially
on Church, probably my fave of the lot).
Anyway, I could make a double-CD of my favorite '80s Hawkstuff, I think it
would go like this:

Hawkwind '81--'88 (excluding Levitation and the '89 live stuff, as most
people are in agreement about those <er, i think>):

from Sonic Attack:

1.Sonic Attack--the studio/song version! I just listened to this album again
yesterday after a long break and I think it's damn consistent! I might even
kick off SDNC next week w/this track (ducking)
2.Rocky Paths
3.Angels of Death
4.Living on a Knife Edge
5.Lost Chances
6.Transdimentional Man

from Church of HW:

7.Nuclear Drive
8.Star Cannibal
9.Phenomenon of Luminosity
10.The Church
11.Light Specific Data
(and though it's a '90s track--Mists of Meridin, maybe my fave '90s
Hawk-track)

from CYM:

12.Choose Your Masques
13.Dream Worker
14.Void City

Zones:

15.The Island

This is HW: Do not Panic/Stonehenge:

16.Levitation
17.Stonehenge Decoded

Chronicle and bonus tracks:

18.Shade Gate
19.The War I Survived (Live)
20.Arioch

L. Chron:

21.Shade Gate
22.Rocky Paths
23.Conjuration of Magnu/Magnu
24.Dust of Time

Out and Intake:

25.Cajun Jinx
26.Ejection
27.Assassins of Allah
28.Ghost Dance (and Undisclosed Files version)
29.Warrior on the Edge of Time (Griffin CD)

from Xenon Codex:

30.Neon Skyline

Well! I guess that was a little more than a double-album's worth...

Chuck

NP: Census of Hallucinations (everybody get this!! latest from Stone
Premonitions people)
