WEl,l it was a tough choice, but i went to see Mike Watt and the Pair of
Pliers
in Albany instead of seeing the Brain surgeons at Meow Mix last night.

BUT, Watt ( w/drummer and guitarist) did an excellent STOMPING rendition
of the Red and the Black within the first 3 songs of the set, which made
the rest of the set very tasty cake icing. The combo is very tight, and
loud and delivered song after song without intermission save to say thank
you. Also, watt did quickly say "red and the black" after the ended before
launching to an instrumental(? i cnat remember) there were a few
instrumental numbers that evening. No tourspiel though, but it was a good
show: did a cover of TV Eye by the Stooges in the encore as well as quite
surpiringly the title track of the most recent Sleater -kinney CD "All
Hands on the Bad One" It was a rocking, furiously driven to rockin' good
time. Now THATS a sentence. Well crowded venue too.

Though, t'woulda been good to see the Brtain Surgeons. But hey, a live dose
of tud stick bass playing was a good fallback position :)
