Hello everybody. I'm back in New York from a week abroad highlighted by
the Hawkestra event at Brixton. Thanks to all the other list members who
posted about the event I've been up all night just going through e-mails.
Whew.
I want to add my voice to those who want to give the largest thanks to
Dave and each and every Hawk-member who attended and made the show so
amazing. For me it was a dream come true, and I've no nits to pick with it at
all, (well it would have been nice if Simon King could have put in an
appearance but...). No, really I thought it was just fantastic for the epic 4
hour length of it, and the mixture of every era of Hawkwind personnel worked
better than I'd ever anticipated it would, and I came expecting plenty.
Obviously lots of rehersal went into it. I felt like the list member who said
he'd felt like he'd been given the moon on a stick. The whole night was one
big highlight.
Thanks also to Michael Blackman for the fantastic badges. I know
everynody who got one loved them, and your kind efforts were very appreciated
by all. I'm sorry we didn't get to meet. The scene in the Beehive was some of
the most crowded chaos I've ever experienced...and I'm from New York. I'm
glad I got to see my U.S. homies Mike Coleman, Kevin Sommers, Jim
Lascko,Keith Henderson, Dave Hess, Steve Taylor, Steve Hayes, Adam Strider
and Susan Suchman. All the way to London for Hawkwind, pretty cool. I'm sorry
I didn't get to meet more list members, but the crowd was stifling my social
skills, what they are. I'm sorry I missed Bernhard. Maybe at the Christmas
gig? I was very happy to meet Gary and Anna on the line, que, whatever you
call the throng waiting to get in. Also happy to get to say hi to Andy
Garibaldi for a quick meeting. Also hi to Jill Stroubridge. I'm the bearded
yank who said hi to you as you returned to your balcony seat for Tim Blake's
set.
What a night. I'm so glad I went, so glad the Hawks all came. Thanks
and worship for all the Hawkwinders who came, played, and conquered. I can't
resist trying to do it all again at Christmas. Cheers to you all. Eli
