It seems, in my experience, US fans reserve the violence and mayhem for
after the match, particularly if their team has won an important
victory.  "Hey, we just won the championship, let's go downtown and bust
some shop windows and turn over a couple of cars!" ;-)

(This seems more prevalent of fans of college teams.:)
