I don't know if this has been discussed here before, but I discovered that Daniel Lanois, who has worked with U2, Peter Gabriel, etc. has a song called "Where the Hawkwind Kills" on his first album, "Acadie" from '89. Any connection to HW beyond the name? AllMusic describes the album as a cross between "ethereal" folk and New Orleans R&B. Brian
