Yer lad probably was thinking of Rounder Records, a fine Brighton shop but
not the one it came from. There's a proto-chain called Essential Music,
shops in Brighton, Bournemouth and Edinburgh at the moment I think, selling
lots of classics (and I mean classics you might actually want) for bargain
prices. I've bought things like Led Zeppelin, Zappa, Tom Waits in there for
much less than usual prices, less than usual second hand prices even. Many
things are £6, (and that is £6, not £5.99, which gets my vote) as Space
Ritual was, and last time I looked so were the self-titled,
Doremifasolatido and HoTMG.
