HW: how long, how many, and why

Now here's someone to be in awe of, a fan since 1969 - I was 8 years old &
probably listening to the happening sounds of some crappy pop music (was the
Partridge Family on then?) while you had a big head-start on the best sounds
ever made.

I am jealous!
