If anyone who stops off at Preston fancies a bit of a bevvie, not that I'm 
trying to encourage alcoholism, you understand, not less than 5 minutes from the 
train station are 2 of the best pubs in the town.

I speak of none other than the Dog & Partridge and the New Britannia Inn.
You can get a plate full of more than you can eat in the Dog for £2.20... and 
more than you can drink in the Brit.

No problem leaving either, as they both close early afternoon.
