Arranging a meet up and sharing a taxi would be the best way.  
There's a pub across the road from the station called the Vic and Station.  

If you want to venture a bit further, 5 minutes walk away are the friendlier 
rock pubs The Dog & Partridge and the New Brit.  The beer in the latter 2 is 
always top quality.  Good food there as well.  £2.20 for anything on the menu 
in the D&P (no microwaves), slightly more in the Brit.  Can't complain at 
either though.
