Friends of Hawkwind to Converge at New York City Concert Event

September 17th will unite transcontinental 'Hawkfriends'in New York City.
Dave Adams of The UK's premier Hawkwind tribute act 'Assassins of Silence',
is set to team up with American based spacerockers Mike Burro & Jay Adcock
for an evening of 'mostly Hawkwind'.

(PRWEB) July 28, 2005 -- Call them 'One Eyed Assassin', at least on
September 17th. That's when Dave Adams of the UK's premier Hawkwind tribute
act 'Assassins of Silence' will team up with Mike Burro, Jay Adcock and
others from the American spacerock outfits The One Eyed Bishops &
Sloterdijk. Together they'll offer a rare U.S.performance of 'mostly
Hawkwind' at Manhattan's Baggot Inn, nestled inside the heart of the city's
Greenwhich Village section.

For those unfamiliar with the music of Hawkwind, the band has been credited
with creating a genre of music known to those who enjoy it, as 'spacerock'.
Hawkwind burst onto the UK festival circuit in 1969 and is still going
strong under the leadership of guitarist Dave Brock. Over the years Brock
has remained at Hawkwind's helm, overseeing many personnel changes that have
included the likes of Motorhead's Lemmy Kilminster, Cream's Ginger Baker,
science fiction author Michael Moorcock, Tim Blake of Gong, Simon House of
David Bowie's 'Stage era' band, and many others.

The band scored a surprise hit on the UK charts more than thirty years ago,
with the song 'Silver Machine'. Hawkwind's fanbase is a loyal one, and their
extensive personnel roster has continued to spin off related projects for
more than three decades.

Cut to the present, and we find the members of 'One Eyed Assassin' firmly
implanted in the Hawkwind family. Dave Adams is the leader of the UK's
premier Hawkwind tribute act, 'Assassins of Silence'. Although loosely
tagged as a 'cover band', it should be noted that lead guitarist
extrordinare Huw Lloyd Langton, a founding member of Hawkwind performs
regularly with the band.

Mike Burro & Jay Adcock of The One Eyed Bishops & Sloterdijk have their
Hawkwind connections too. Burro formed the spacerock project SLOTERDIJK
while living in The Netherlands in 1996. By 1999 he and Adcock were
performing at Hawkwind related functions in the U.S. and Europe, including
'The Strange Daze Spacerock festival'.The band became the only American act
to ever play 'The North German Hamburg Hawk Fan Meeting', and later that
summer after returning to The U.S., supported Hawkwind's Harvey Bainbridge
on a solo tour of the states. In 2002 Burro's interest in skiffle, blues and
R&B, led him to form an offshoot of his band called The One Eyed Bishops.
What was originally intended to be a short lived 'diversion', soon became
the major thrust of his endeavors, and that summer the band performed by
request in Devon, UK at a private festival, organized and headlined by
Hawkwind themselves, called 'Hawkfest 2002'. A CD of this event was later
released by Voiceprint Records, UK. 2003 saw a second 'Hawkfest', this time
held in northwestern England, near Blackpool. Although invited to appear
with Sloterdijk, Burro was unable to make it to the festival, however Dave
Adams and his 'Assassins' did perform. In the summer of 2004 Burro did an
OEB tour of The UK and performed at 'Celebrationfest' in Bicester,
Oxfordshire. This event was organized by Dave Adams, and it was his band,
along with Huw Lloyd Langton that concluded the day's events. In November of
2004, Burro supported Hawkwind founding member NIk Turner on his 'Future
Cities of The Past' tour, and so the story goes.

Hawkwind is a muli layered 'starship', with a large crew and a multitude of
support personnel. The 'mostly Hawkwind' performance at The Baggot Inn, will
intertwine elements of this extended family from both sides of the atlantic,
and is a 'must see' show for fans of Hawkwind and their relations. Please
visit the Baggot Inn website for set times, etc at: http://www.baggotinn.com
The venue address and telephone numbers are as follows: 82 West 3rd Street (
between Sullivan & Thomson), Greenwhich Village, New York, New York
