review of OEB + Mind Control Tower show: Sunday January 13th

Greetings friends,It was a great pleasure to do a double billing with Mind Control Tower, last sunday night ( January 13th ). The OEBs and Sloterdijk have both performed with Bob Lennon's bands in the past ( Subprimitive etc ), in fact Bob was still a member of Scattered Planets when they performed at the first ever One Eyed Bishops gig back in the late spring of 2002. I also saw Bob with his 'Vulcanologists' open for Hawkwind in Allentown ,Pennsylania last summer. What I liked about the Vulcanologists, has in my opinion become more honed as Mind Control Tower. The band was quite solid, and Bob had switched to bass. Although I don't know the proper names of their tunes, I can safely say that the one I enjoyed the most was the one they called " a metal tune".  Mind Control Tower set this gig up, and I have to say it was a very unique setting, especially for those who smoke. Not only was cigarette smoking tolerated, but people were watching both bands while taking big hits out of water cooled Hookahs! It was a nice touch, as was the arabesque interior. All in all it was a great night, and I was happy to have a new voice in the OEB mix. Stewkey, of Nazz fame, was once again on board, and in addition we had additional vocal and percussive help from Maria Stella.
