ah Deep Ellum
I actually know the guy basically responsible for (re)starting the whole
scene-
and he ran a club called Trees when Nik blew into town in 94....
I cracked up when he tried to steal my friend's Monster Magnet CD at one of
their shows (he did not know it was me or my friend)(I HOPE!!), when we were
at bar and bathroom,  but I had forwarned my friend to take the CD case only
(autographs seemed cool at that moment)........so he got a CD case.....
I don't know much about what's happening there now but it was a pretty good
music scene for a while....and the whole downtown district there was turned
into lots of clubs and bands and parties...
Incidentally that guy, Jeff Lyles is (was?) also known for his own band
"Decadent Dub Team", and others....
