Yes, absolutely love the new album. It’s a corker!

Arin, no, we won’t be going to the convention, don’t know about it, but couldn’t afford it anyway, I’ll look it up, since you’ve got Tim and me curious, but I really appreciate the suggestions for more Silverberg. I’ve read a lot through the Asimov mag.
. I hope you’re enjoying the summer. We need more rain here. Do you like the new Hawkwind? I didn’t read reviews, so I don’t know what anyone wrote, we love it! Glad you’re still here, and posting.
Always, your friend,
Mary

Silverberg’s fantasy is good too. I quite enjoyed the Majipoor books (particularly the original trilogy) and I still pimp Lord Valentine’s Castle to people looking for good fantasy!

BTW, any list folk coming to Worldcon in a couple of weeks?

Oh. I had mercifully forgotten this book and wish you hadn't reminded me. This is of course strictly IMO (my own opinion) and others may well choose to hold a differing view but as far as I am concerned this is the nastiest, most unpleasant book I have ever come across. I read some of it - most of it in the end I guess and very much wished I hadn't. I'm not entirely sure what he intended - some catharsis perhaps or understanding, who knows but I have never since and will never read another book written by him.

I get why Jill thinks this way about the book, though the "not another book" comment seems to me to misunderstand the craft of writing. None of Silverberg's other books are like Dying Inside and I'm sure Jill would find some, such as Nightwings, quite lyrical.

I'd say Dying Inside is the most mature book on telepathy that I've ever read, and one of the greats of SF. It really ought to be a play or a movie.
