ISPnet has scheduled a maintenance window between
10:00 PM EST, Sat, July 20 and
2:00 AM EST, Sun, July 21
We do not expect this work to disrupt connectivity to any
customer, but there will be a reduction in redundancy and there
may be brief periods of routing instability. See below for more
details.
During the maintenance window we will be performing work at two
ISPnet POPs at Telehouse colocation sites:
25 Broadway, New York
85 Tenth Ave, New York
The major task will be the relocation of one of a redundant pair
of ISPnet backnet routers from 25 Broadway to 85 Tenth. During
the window certain routing functions will operate without the
usual redundance provided by the router pair.
Customers with multiple bgp sessions to ISPnet may see one of
these sessions drop.
Similarly for ISPnet upstreams and for ISPnet peers.
The "router move" should not cause any loss in reachability, but
it might cause one or more periods of routing instability with
increased latency times, primarily relating to peers with bgp
sessions to only one ISPnet router.
ISPnet will also be reinstalling a Redundant Power System (RPS)
providing fall-back power to one switch stack at 85 Tenth Ave.
This part of the announcement is purely cautionary. The switches
should continue to run on their primary power source (which is,
itself, highly protected).
As has been mentioned in prior announcements, Telehouse is
closing their facility at 25 Broadway, the location of what had
been ISPnet's primary and original NYC-area POP. Since January,
ISPnet has been operating two Manhattan POPs, gradually moving
functionality from 25 Broadway to 85 Tenth. This will complete
one of the last stages of this project, removing the last of our
routers from 25 Broadway. We will continue to maintain a layer-2
connection.
