As others have already posted the Theremin homepage, I won't...

There are a couple of sources on the 'Net for buying/building your own
Theremin. One is PAIA Electronics, who have been around for years, with
el-cheapo (cost, not quality or feature-wise) synths, organs and efx (see
Fast, Larry AKA Synergy). The other is Big Briar, which was started by The
Man Himself, Robert Moog (all hail the Mini-Moog!). Moog started off building
Theremins and got into the synth business that way. Both of the little beasties
are fairly cheap (couple of hundred dollars, as long as you don't opt for the
fancy cases. Saw one that had been built into one of those plastic pickle
jars! Was quite unique!) and I think that MIDI will be an option at one point.

I think Jon Spencer of the JS Blue Explosion play ones live on his current
tour (see the Web page). TR (Todd Rundgren) uses one (that's what he's
playing on the front of NO WORLD ORDER). JMJarres' new one also credits a
Theremin (along with a ton of tasty vintage synths!). And don't forget
Lothar and The Hand People ("Lothar" was a Theremin).

"...everything old is new again!"
