Yay! 17th October in Edinburgh - and a Friday too 8-))) and Glasgow
the next night.

Re bootleg CDs: there was a wierd article in the local rag "Evening
News" the other week with dire warnings that Edinburgh was about to
become the target of a massive influx of bootleg CDs from Europe.
Apparently these are not just small-time makers of 25 copies or so
but serious distribution centers producing 100s of copies with the
apparently official-looking covers to the extent that they appear to be
a genuine release. Hawkwind were NOT one of the bands mentioned in the
article but some big-name bands like the Beatles and Pink Floyd were
listed as likely targets and many shops have apparently been fooled into
thinking that these are genuinely new issues.

Goodness only knows, given the media predeliction towards hyperbole,
how accurate this all is but if Griffin have already run into
problems with this (an it sounds as if they might have) it seems like
it's already BIG business on the European main continent.

I wonder if there's any way of imprinting a special hologram or some
other unique marking onto the outside of a CD issue to confirm its
legitimate production by the appropriate approved company - bit like a
banknote I guess!

Just a thort

jill
