the request was for '70's

I have already posted my feelings concerning Parliament/Funkadelic in the
concept Album realm but I feel clarification is necessary obviously there
is 1976's awesome Mothership Connection the less succesful 1975 Chocolate
City and the great The Clones of Dr. Funkenstein among others and also let
me mention Funkadelic's incredible 1971 Maggot Brain and the phenomenal
1972 double album America Eats Its Young. We must never foget our
SpaceFunk brothers for it is all most definitely on the one.
I remeber first noticing the ability of the bass via Phil Lesh (perhaps we
could even consider 1975's Blues for Allah a concept album !975's Sea
Stones most definitely is as is 1968's Anthem of the Sun opps forgot
1970's only) Bootsy Collins and all the other Parliament/Funkadelic Bass
Players opened a new realm of bass playing to me. Then of course when I
heard Lemmy with HW I knew the instrument had no bounds.
Someone else has already mentioned Frank Zappa another great.

I would also like to mention Harry Nilsson whose 1970 underated Point
album is concept great. As are some of his earlier 60's albums.
