After the first album came out (I think, may have been just before..) he
had an accident and chopped the end off his middle finger right hand,
which as we all know on a left handed guitarist is a pretty darned
essential digit.. so our Tone made himself a thimble with a rubber tip
to extend the butchered pinky.. viola.. he play on.. :)

I think to this day he uses a similar device.
