Robert Calvert/Revenge
Robert Calvert first started working with Hawkwind in 1970 as their resident
aural space - age poet. He composed and sang his own songs, leaving the
band after they exploded into the charts with Silver Machine. Two solo
albums followed in 1974 and 1975, Captain Lockheed & The Starfighters and
Lucky Leif & The Longships, which was produced by Brian Eno. By 1975 he
rejoined Hawkwind as vocalist and lyricist, dominating the next two albums
Astounding Sounds Amazing Music and Quark, Strangeness & Charm. By 1978,due
to the arrival of punk rock and various litigations Hawkind split and
Calvert concentrated on his writing. These four tracks were originally
recorded as backing tracks and instrumentals by Pete Pavli in 1981. Pavli
met Calvert through a mutual friend, Hawkind's Simon House. Calvert wrote
completed lyrics and melodies for the tracks and the vocals were recorded in
an afternoon on a Teac 4 track. In 1988, while preparing a new album and a
tour with his band The Starfighters Robert died of a heart attack. The
songs were never really finished and were meant as demos, however in 1991
the tapes were mixed and released via mail order as a limited edition of 200.

Lloyd-Langton Group/Chain Reaction
Hawkwind founder member and long standing lead guitarist Huw Lloyd Langton,
reformed his band early last year with original drummer John Clark and Gerry
Cunningham on bass. Huw shows his versatility as a rock based blues
guitarist who is able to play slow haunting melodies just as easily as
complex fast instrumentals. Positive reviews and features have appeared in
Classic Rock and Wondrous Stories as well as selected regional papers. The
track "Jealousy" was included on Classic Rock's cover mounted cd. Huw will
be featured on the new Luther Grosvenor (Spooky Tooth, Widowmaker, Mott The
Hoople), album as well as the debut release from Meads Of Asphodel.
Hawkwind's reunion shows at Brixton Academy will include Huw in the line up
along with Lemmy. These will be held in September. There is also a
possibility of a Glastonbury appearance.
