yeah; remember it well; Roy Harper played a long solo acoustic set in the
late evening as darkness fell, and his last song was "1984" ; just before
this Huw had been setting up his amps in the background and wandered on
stage with his guitar, and after a few moments of head-down chat and Roy
showing Huw the chord shapes, he (Huw) joined in with some pretty cool
ad-libbed atmospherics while the rest of the Hawks set up their gear. Roy
and Huw finsihed the song and then Roy did his "i present to you the night
and the ..." etc etc speech. The Hawks played a pretty manic set and went
off for a bit, coming back in the wee small hours to do a mixed-up
electronic jam with some songs blended into it to welcome the dawn- this is
also on tape and record in various places; the voice of Nik asking everyone
to clear the front because something special is going to happen. Nik also
played a solo set; flute music stuff, in the middle of the night, either the
next night or the one after that. This was Alan Davey's first gig; what a
way to start...... I remember this particularly well because I helped Harvey
Bainbridge carry some of his gear back to camp after the morning set and
spent a few happy hours talking and chilling with the Hawks and Frenchy (of
Flicknife Records). Happy Days : )

This is offlist; but related to the question: Plug time; try
www.royharper.com it's a good site for any interested folk
