Ah yes- I think that exchange took place before I joined the list but I did
read it in the archives. The "Hawkwind riot"...it was you wot done it!

Get away! I'm shocked. But the obvious gangsterism is a relatively recent
development, no? (unless I was just too stoned to notice it in my younger
days).

Sure, I'm not such a curmudgeon that I never enjoyed it there when I used
to go! I just found that over the years, the aspects I enjoyed were gradually
outweighed by those I didn't. Had a lot to do with the vast crowds and the
dramatic increase in commercialisation and rip-offs.
