Subject: Hawkwind Manchester Gig

Hawkwind apologise for the last minute cancellation of the Manchester gig. They are totally devastated and have not left a stone unturned to persuade Manchester University to allow the gig to go ahead. Hawkwind were there. Their gear was set up when Manchester University made them dismantle it and leave the hall because the fire alarm system was not programmed. Hawkwind, the promoter and the hall manager did everything in their power to persuade Manchester University to get the alarm programmed or advise one of hawkwind’s technicians of the code so that they could do it themselves. All to no avail. Hawkwind and their fans from all over the world have been left bitterly disappointed. Manchester University would not put one of their staff on to the steps to inform fans of the reason for the cancellation.

They just put up a notice saying that it was cancelled for unforeseen reasons.

Everyone please email Manchester University and let them know how you feel about their behaviour.

Nothing like this has happened to Hawkwind before. Hawkwind are going to set a forum up on their website for all the fans who came to have their say and to discuss a date for rescheduling the gig.

Hawkwind are on their way to Exeter now.

Anyone who intended to pick up their magna DVD at Manchester will receive it in the post after Christmas.

The remaining dates at Exeter and London are unaffected by this and will go ahead as planned.
