I have to admit to having an entirely unfair bias against Fu
Manchu that has kept me from giving them a fair shake.
Basically, years ago, some dumbass reviewer on
Stonerrock.com savaged one of my favorite bands (Ridge) by
tagging them as a cheap Fu Manchu ripoff, thus leading
pretty much directly to the demise of Ridge.  With a
relatively tiny anticipated fan base to begin with (the
Meteor City / Black Lodge / Stonerrock.com folks) all
reading the same review, it completely tanked their sales,
so they just gave up and broke up the band.  One of these
days I should just get over it and give Fu Manchu another
chance, since they actually had nothing to do with it.  :)
