That was what I'm guessing.  That would start to make the 5.1 mix 
feature of the new release sound less exciting (though the 24bit version 
of the stereo would still be nice, as would the full version of 
"Brainstorm").

Yeah ... but fun to do! :)  (Well, if I had a lot of time on my hands. 
I would bet there is a _lot_ of cross-mic bleed on the original 
multi-track tapes!)
